diploma work for the BA programme at „George Enescu” National University of Arts from Iași glazed porcelain, video | Galeria Aparte | Iași, Romania 2023

The installation consists of two key components: a porcelain ceramic palette and a short observational-documentary film. While the video was filmed during a research visit to the former kaolin mine in Harghita-Băi, the porcelain ceramic palette serves as the physical embodiment of the project. The accompanying video aims to convey the disorienting and unsettling sensation one experiences when confronted with the dramatically altered landscape caused by the extensive dumping of sterile waste into the natural surroundings. Through this artistic endeavor, the traditional relationship between art and its audience is disrupted by introducing an additional layer that elucidates the origins of the resources used in the artwork’s creation. The artist, driven by a deep sensitivity to environmental issues, seeks to foster awareness of the ongoing environmental crisis. The intention here is to provoke a poignant juxtaposition between the allure of porcelain’s beauty and the inexorable destruction it contributes to.
