Elena Chirila (b. 1999, Chisinau) is a visual artist and
producer whose work - with and about Eastern Europe and Balkans
- addresses issues such as gender-based violence, migration, the
environmental crisis, and historical revisionism. She studied at
UNAGE, Iași, Romania and ESAA école supérieure d’art annecy
alpes in France.
The short film Tell Me a Poem (Romania, 2023) that she
co-directed was screened at FeKK - Ljubljana Short Film Festival
and Filma. Feminist Film Festival (Ukraine). In 2024, she
collaborated as an assistant curator for the Trans(myth) project
at Škuc Gallery in Ljubljana, as a cultural mediator for the
Romanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, and was awarded the
Prince Claus Fund SEED Award.
As a cultural worker and contemporary art producer, she has
contributed to numerous collaborative projects in Moldova,
Romania, and Slovenia, working with organizations such as
Oberliht and the Igor Zabel Association for Culture and Theory.
